Perhaps one of the largest issues we are noticing leading up to the quickly approaching midterm elections is the way the Democratic Party has been welcoming illegal immigrants into the country, more than likely as a way of gaining votes, less likely because of their “compassion” for others.
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump ruined former President Barack Obama’s legacy (in terms of illegal immigration) simply by posting a tweet which included video footage of the former President from 2005.
He captioned the video, “I agree with President Obama 100%!”
The Daily Wire reports:
We all agree on the need to better secure the border, and to punish employers who choose to hire illegal immigrants. We are a generous and welcoming people here in the United States but those who enter the country illegally and those who employ them disrespect the rule of law and they are showing disregard for those following the law. We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently and lawfully to become immigrants in this country.

Obama made comments like this more than once, however.
During a 2006 speech that was given by Obama on the Senate floor, he stated, “The American people are a welcoming and generous people. But those who enter our country illegally, and those who employ them, disrespect the rule of law. And because we live in an age where terrorists are challenging our borders, we simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, and unchecked. Americans are right to demand better border security and better enforcement of the immigration laws.”
Back in 1995, then-President Bill Clinton made very similar comments as well. He stated, “All Americans … are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country,” Clinton said that night. “The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants. The public service they use impose burdens on our taxpayers. That’s why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens.”
Take a look at the video:
While we can’t say for sure whether they believed what they were saying or if they were just saying it to keep voters happy, their tune certainly has changed.
In 2014, when Barack Obama began to come up with programs such as DAPA, which allows parents of “lawful permanent residents” the right to stay in America, and DACA, which allows immigrant children the right to stay in the country.
The rhetoric on illegal immigration changed vastly:
And that’s why we’re going to keep focusing enforcement resources on actual threats to our security. Felons, not families. Criminals, not children. Gang members, not a mom who’s working hard to provide for her kids. We’ll prioritize, just like law enforcement does every day.
