Trump Bashing Puerto Rican Mayor Exposed, Staring Down Fraud Charges Over $3 Million in Federal Funds

Kirsters Baish| Why does it seem like the liberals of the world want to blame all of their problems on President Donald Trump? It seems like the liberal media find a way to link any negative news story to President Trump in one way or another. Remember back to October of 2017 when the tragic Hurricane Maria blasted the inland of Puerto Rico. Liberals all found a way to blame Trump.

Even though our country’s government did everything they could by sending emergency workers, supplies, and relief funds, the Democrats all blamed Trump for the slow recovery of the island. The mainstream media was glad to blast the anti-Trump narrative.

Conservative Tribune explained of the matter:

As comparisons to George W. Bush and Hurricane Katrina grew, figures like San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz attacked Trump for allegedly mishandling the disaster response, despite the fact that emergency management experts praised the president and FEMA’s actions.

While dressed in a t-shirt with the word “NASTY” on the front, Yulín Cruz claimed at the time, “What is really nasty is that anyone would turn their back on the Puerto Rican people.”

So you’re telling me this woman was able to get a customized t-shirt during a time that she was also complaining that the people of her island were not getting the proper relief aid… and all for a petty poke at President Trump.

San Juan Mayor Cruz, along with other Democrats, just ket the Trump blame train coming. Cruz claimed during a television conference in October, “We are dying, and you (Trump) are killing us with the inefficiency and the bureaucracy.”

Now we are where we are today, learning that there was more than enough “inefficiency and bureaucracy” taking place in Puerto Rico. It seems now, however, that the politicians of the island are to blame, not President Trump.

Two island offices and one Puerto Rican mayor are now being slapped with charges of corruption, as reported by the Associated Press.

While the crimes dates back to before Hurricane Maria, the arrests prove that there is corruption running deep in the Puerto Rican government.

“The suspects are the mayor of the southwest town of Sabana Grande and the former directors of finance for the northern town of Toa Baja,” the Associated Press wrote. “U.S. Attorney Rosa Emilia Rodriguez told reporters that the former officials from Toa Baja are accused of using nearly $5 million worth of federal funds to pay the town’s public employees and municipal contractors.”

“Not only is that illegal, it’s immoral,” Rodriguez continued.

Island officials are being accused of having stolen millions of dollars which was sent to Puerto Rico by the United States in order to assist programs as well as sending it it wherever they felt it was needed.

Conservative Tribune writes:

At the center of the illegal scheme is Miguel Ortiz Vélez, who served as mayor. Ortiz Vélez belongs to the Popular Democratic Party, which is affiliated with the more well-known Democrat party in the mainland United States.

Guess who else belongs to the same liberal PDP political group: Carmen Yulín Cruz, the person who was blaming Trump for hurricane deaths while her own party was defrauding taxpayers and laundering aid money. Is anyone surprised?

There may be more arrests to follow, as well. Government officials said that more corruption is suspected, and additional Puerto Rican officials are under scrutiny.

“Rodriguez said the investigation into alleged corruption in Toa Baja is ongoing because officials believe other people are involved,” the Associated Press reaffirmed.

The hurricane which left Puerto Rico in shambles was obviously tragic, and a lot can be learned about disasters such as this one in order to prepare better for next time.

Clearly, President Trump isn’t the one to blame for the problems in Puerto Rico.
