Elder Patriot – Most clear thinking people have already dismissed House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi because her bombastic overstatements that suggest she’s in the throws of dementia.
Now it’s time to dismiss the ignorant vitriol of the Democrats’ other leader, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Schumer took the low ground following the beat down that President Trump handed him over his miscalculation in shutting down the government last weekend (did anyone even notice?) and then attacked the Tea Party for his actions.
During an appearance on Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) argued that the hard right has always been opposed to immigration and one of the Tea Party’s “fundamental values” is a “horrible, disgusting” “anti-immigrant” position:
“Well, first, the hard right has always opposed immigration. Donald Trump ran on an anti-immigration platform, the Tea Party’s — one of their fundamental values is anti-immigrant, which is horrible, disgusting, but that’s who they are.”
Schumer showed his ignorance – or at least revealed his reliance on divisive tactics – on multiple fronts.
Anyone who has ever been to a Tea Party event knows that it is inclusive of people of all races and all political persuasions. Admittedly most are conservatives but they are bound by the common issue reflected in their name Taxed Enough Already.
The events are always respectful, without vitriol, and without any of the violence common to the “rallies” of the left that Schumer embraces. We even pick up after ourselves.
Aside from that Schumer’s contention that we are “anti-immigrant” is a complete mischaracterization of who we are and is in itself horrible and disgusting. But, that is what we’ve come to expect from that anti-Americans Democratic Party.
The fact is we believe in lawful immigration from everywhere in the world. We openly welcome immigrants. We have just one caveat, that immigrants enter our country legally.
This is because we understand that everyone who benefits from breaking the law necessarily does so at the expense of one or more other people. We know that the resulting costs fall not just on the victims (say a displaced laborer or a family displaced by a tightening housing market) but also on the American taxpayers who find themselves (and their children) $20 trillion in debt for our compassion towards others.
Schumer knows all of this but has chosen to ignore these truths. He seeks political benefit from vilifying those he determines are enemies of his open borders agenda. He admitted this to Maddow when she pressed him on why he caved instead of maintaining the government shutdown.
In a rare truthful moment Schumer said:
“All of us in the Democratic caucus, not just the moderates, but the liberals as well, came to the view that if we carried it on much longer, two things would happen: A. No one would budge. The public would lose support of the shutdown. The public does not like shutdowns. And we’d actually lose support for DREAMers, too.
That’s as close to an admission that the more Americans became aware that Schumer had refused to fund the government unless we gave voting rights to people here illegally the worse it was going to get for Democrats.
Why? Because Americans don’t put DACA designees ahead of our troops or of their own children.
Ever since Trump sent the DACA issue to Congress – where it belonged in the first place – Schumer was put in the position of shoveling shit against the tide.
Schumer and his fellow Dems chose the wrong horse to ride and Trump made sure everyone could see that.
Schumer will never admit that the Tea Partiers he disparages do not hate DREAMers. The truth is we love DREAMers who are willing to wait on line and lawfully wait until they are invited in.
Our politics can no longer abide despicable, horrible, and disgusting politicians like Schumer and his minions stopping the work of making American great again.
