Media Caught Using John McCain’s Death To Achieve Sick Objective

Elder Patriot – Two stories that have hit the mainstream media in the last few hours highlight their hypocrisy towards President Trump.

While accusing Trump of being divisive, the mainstream media – and even some pro Trump sites – stop at nothing to be the ones dividing us.

In the first instance, John McCain left a stirring message to be read to the American people after his passing.  Somehow NBC was able to conflate this into a parting shot at President Trump.

McCain wrote that:

“We weaken our greatness when we confuse our patriotism with tribal rivalries that have sown resentment and hatred and violence in all corners of the globe.”

“We weaken it when we hide behind walls, rather than tear them down, when we doubt the power of our ideals rather than trust them to be the great force for change they have always been.

“Do not despair of our present difficulties but believe always in the promise and greatness of America, because nothing is inevitable here.  Americans never quit. We never surrender. We never hide from history. We make history.”

NBC had to admit that McCain never did mention Trump by name but only that “it appeared” some of the remarks were aimed at Trump.

Sites on the right were equally polarizing.

If not intended to divide us, then to what end was the purpose of this report?  Americans have already spoken on this issue.

McCain ran for president refusing to build a wall and lost.  Trump ran promising to build the wall and won. We should unite around that.  After all, as Barack Obama was so quick to note, elections have consequences.

Frankly, from this corner, good fences make good neighbors.  McCain was never much for barriers. He preferred open conflict and bombing innocents into submission.  Americans decided a wall is preferrable.

The media should listen to the people on this.  It is not the job of the media to push poll or lecture the American people.

That brings us to the second story circulating in the mainstream media today.

Apparently Tiger Woods’ refusal to become embroiled in a political debate over President Trump’s policies was met with disdain by those hoping they could add his name to the list of black athletes trashing the president.

Woods refused to bite when baited:

“Well, I’ve known Donald for a number of years.  We’ve played golf together. We’ve had dinner together. I’ve known him pre-presidency and obviously during his presidency.”

When asked about how he would explain his friendship with Trump given the president’s stance on tightening of US immigration policies and his criticism of protesting NBA and NFL players, Woods said:

“Well, he’s the President of the United States.  You have to respect the office. No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office.”

Good for Tiger.  Perhaps Tiger remembers how the mainstream media torched him for his infidelity a number of years ago when they should’ve given him space to work through his problems.  Perhaps he’s just a solid citizen who gets “it.” Likely, it’s both.

The disrespect the media hurls in President Trump’s direction is, in reality, indicative of their disrespect for the Americans who voted for him.  To them we’re all deplorables.

Do not let them divide us.
