President Trump Orders FBI’s Kavanaugh Investigation Wrapped Up THIS Week
Fox News has just reported that President Donald Trump has ordered that White House Counsel Don McGahn is to give the FBI the opportunity to talk with any individuals that could have any information for their “supplemental background investigation” on Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
The President ordered that the investigation be wrapped up by this coming Friday.
Fox News’ source stated that the President announced his decision after speaking to McGahn this past weekend.
The bureau is investigating allegations of sexual misconduct being brought against Kavanaugh that date back more than three decades. One of three accusers has already been interviewed by agents.
The President made an appearance at a Rose Garden news conference this morning. During the conference, he stated that he was hoping for the investigation to come to an end quickly.
He also labeled the allegations against Kavanaugh as “so unfair.”
He stated, “my White House will do whatever the senators want.”
Then, the President stated that he was “fine” with agents talking to Kavanaugh about the allegations. During previous interviews with Senate Judiciary Committee staff, Judge Kavanaugh has repeatedly denied any truth to the accusations against him.
Fox News writes:
Trump also said he would not object if the bureau interviewed Kavanaugh’s third accuser, Julie Swetnick, who has claimed Kavanaugh and high school friend Mark Judge drugged women at parties where the women would be gang-raped. Swetnick’s attorney, Michael Avenatti, repeatedly has called on the FBI to contact his client.
“It wouldn’t bother me at all,” Trump said of a possible Swetnick interview. “Now, I don’t know all three of the accusers. Certainly, I imagine they’re going to interview two. The third one, I don’t know much about.”
Christine Blasey Ford sat in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee last Thursday and testified that Brett Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted her 36 years ago.
Earlier in September, Deborah Ramirez claimed to the New Yorker magazine that Judge Kavanaugh had exposed himself to her while they were both attending a party during their time at Yale University.
Fox reports, “A senior Senate Republican source told Fox News that lawmakers were told the FBI’s review could be wrapped up as soon as Tuesday.
However, the source added that any move to forge ahead with a final vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation would need to be approved by Sens.
Jeff Flake, R-Ariz.; Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska. Flake requested the FBI investigation on Friday as a condition of his vote to report Kavanaugh’s nomination out of the Judiciary Committee, a move that Collins and Murkowski supported.”
