Fmr Bomb Disposal Officer Blows The Whistle On Strange Characteristics of Device Sent to CNN

As we previously reported, multiple explosive devices were sent to top Democrats including former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as well as CNN news network.

A former Navy bomb disposal officer pointed out some strange characteristics of the explosive devices, which led him to believe that they were constructed by amateurs, and may have had a different motive than causing bodily harm to recipients.

An image of the “pipe bomb” that was sent to CNN’s New York City bureau was uploaded by the network on Wednesday. The entire building was evacuated after the bomb was discovered.

The package was sent specifically to former CIA Director John Brennan, “care of CNN’s office in the Time Warner Building in midtown Manhattan.”

Thomas Sauer, whose LinkedIn profile descries him as a Naval Academy graduate and a former commander of a Naval explosive ordinance disposal unit, took to Twitter to give his take on the devices. He wrote:

A few observations from a former bomb disposal officer (i.e. Me):

  1. Proper pipe bombs don’t have wires connected to both ends. That’s dumb.”

Sauer explained that the timer wouldn’t be placed on the outside of the bomb if it had been constructed by an experienced bomb maker.

He continued, “Bottom Line: Whoever made that wanted it to be painfully obvious to anyone and everyone that it’s a ‘bomb.’”

Sauer went on to explain that “hoax devices” are “FAR more common than real ones. In which case, we should ask ourselves what the motives of the ‘bomber’ are and ‘who benefits?’ Go ahead. Think deeply and critically.”

Former Marine Corps bomb technician Johnny Jones appeared on Fox News this Wednesday. During his time on the air he explained, “At first look … It does look like a bomb that could be designed to function, not just a hoax.”

Based on their initial reviews, law enforcement officials currently believe that the explosive devices were sent with the intention to “maim or kill,” as reported by ABC News.

It was reported by The New York Times that that the explosive devices share similarities to the one that was found in leftist billionaire George Soros’ mailbox on Monday.

The President spoke out against the attacks, labeling them as “despicable.”

“The full weight of our government is being deployed to conduct this investigation and bring those responsible for these despicable acts to justice,” Trump said.

“This egregious conduct is abhorrent to everything we hold dear and sacred as Americans,” Trump continued. “We are extremely angry, upset, unhappy about what we witnessed this morning, and we will get to the bottom of it.”
