Kirsters Baish| White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders really let CNN’s April Ryan have it today during the daily press briefing. Sanders told Ryan that her question was “absolutely ridiculous” after Ryan asked Sanders if President Donald Trump was thinking about resigning from his position as President of the United States.
Ryan questioned Sanders, “The President said yesterday he was complying, they turned over a million documents. If he was complying with the investigation why was there a search warrant?”
“This doesn’t have anything to do with the President… When it comes to matters of the special counsel and dealing with the President we’ve been fully cooperative,” Sanders quickly shot back.
“With all of this turmoil, particularly this last week, has the President at any time thought about stepping down, before or now?” The CNN reporter continued to push Sanders.
“No, and I think that’s an absolutely ridiculous question,” Sarah Huckabee Sanders concluded.
President Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen’s office was raided by the FBI on Monday. This ticked Trump off quite a bit, so much so that he called the search warrant’s execution a “disgrace.” He also called the investigation being conducted by special counsel Robert Mueller a “which hunt.”
Cohen has been in the public eye since the $130,000 payment that he made in 2016 to porn star Stormy Daniels went public. Daniels has claimed that she had a consensual affair with Donald Trump a decade ago. Trump has denied any and all accusations of the affair.
The Washington Free Beacon reported:
Cohen is being investigated for possible bank fraud, wire fraud and campaign finance violations, according to reports. Sanders said earlier in Tuesday’s briefing Trump believes he has the power to fire Mueller if so inclined, which top Republicans have warned the president against doing.
