Resistance to Releasing the Memo is a Study in Hypocrisy

Elder Patriot – Resistance to releasing the four-page memo written by Republicans on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence is coming from all quarters.

And, it is rife with hypocrisy.

Dan Bongino highlighted the hypocrisy of FBI Director Christopher Wray’s opposition to the release of the names of those who the HPSCI found violated federal statutes in the plot to take down Donald Trump:

The memo exposes DOJ officials and FBI agents who colluded with high-level Obama administration officials to illegally unmask members of Donald Trump’s campaign team.  These were political operatives working in concert with biased law enforcement officials to destroy an opponent.

Now that their time in the spotlight has come following an investigation by the lone entity charged with their oversight, the HPSCI, they want their identities to be kept secret.

The HPSCI investigation turned up copious amounts of evidence that federal crimes had been committed.

The FBI investigation into Trump-Russia collusion turned up no evidence.  The special counsel that investigation spawned has come up empty, as well.

Then there’s the hypocrisy surrounding the “grave” concerns the FBI claims to have about the material omissions of fact that fundamentally impact the memo’s accuracy.

I must’ve missed the memo where the FBI expressed a similarly “grave” concern about the damage to the presidency that its reliance on the phony dossier engendered.  Or, the Constitutional crisis they were precipitating by their flagrant disregard for the results of an election.

The Democrats’ hypocrisy in calling the memo a smokescreen by House Republicans to save President Trump is also hard to miss.

For more than a year, President Trump has served under a cloud while an investigation lacking any underlying crime to serve as a basis for it was conducted.

Democrats reveled in the president’s predicament and went before every camera they could find to smear him with innuendo to block his pro-America agenda.

Now that Republican investigators have uncovered meaningful evidence the same people who pushed for the Trump investigation in the first place may have committed actual crimes, they are crying foul and smokescreen.

What smokescreen?  If there is so much evidence of wrongdoing by Donald Trump and his associates then why would Democrats be so afraid of the memo being released?

There’s only one way to get to the bottom of this and it’s not by allowing the same corrupt members of the FBI continue to control the levers of our investigative processes.

It’s time to release the memo.  And, it’s time to demand special counsel Mueller put up or shut up.  We deserve to see what this “master investigator” and “paragon of virtue” has uncovered.

President Obama promised us transparency.  Demand the Democrats live up to his promise.

Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis properly told us, sunlight is the best disinfectant.  Let We the People see it all so that we can make our own decision.
