Kirsters Baish| Since former President Barack Obama pushed a race war within the borders of the United States, we have seen some pretty scary things. The major American company Procter & Gamble has really outdone themselves this time with the racism, however. They actually felt that it was appropriate to release a television commercial that shows America as a totally racist society, all just to sell products.
The television ad is titled”The Talk,” and it shows scenes of black mothers in America throughout history warning their children about the dangers of being black in the United States. They even suggested that blacks should be afraid of the police in our country.
This ad is truly one of the most racist television ads that I have ever seen in my entire life. It is a continuation of P&G’s decade-old “My Black is Beautiful” campaign. The suggestion that black people have to work twice as hard to get to the same places as white people is totally unrealistic. Then there is the mother who claims that her daughter may not come home if she is to be pulled over by the police. The entire ad is reinforcing the stereotype that whites are negative towards blacks.
Breitbart reported on the ad:
Supporters of criminal justice and sentencing reform tell us that prisons are overloaded with minority inmates, proving that the criminal justice system is racist. President Obama talks about it repeatedly, as do the sponsors of legislation pending in Congress which would retroactively reduce mandatory minimum sentences for drug traffickers and other violent felons.
Because minorities – blacks and Hispanics – make up a disproportionate part of the prison population, their reasoning goes, it must be the police, prosecutors, judges, and juries whose innate racism prohibits minorities from fair treatment, resulting in their incarceration.
Liberal politicians, pandering to minority voters, echo these sentiments, as do the mainstream media in story after story about the awful racist criminal justice system. Black Lives Matter, based on the lie that the police are a bunch of bigots who shoot black men indiscriminately, has earned an honored spot among leftist politicians – including Obama and both contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination. To skew their reasoning even further, the same crowd claims that even though crime rates have dropped precipitously over the past twenty years, the fact that more people are in prison has little to do with the decline, but further demonstrates nothing more than the racism inherent in the system.
It seems as though the facts don’t matter to the progressive left. They just ignore any ideology that they don’t support and move on. Barry Latzer, the author of “The Rise and Fall of Violent Crime in America,” explained that high black incarceration rates “are best explained not by race bias, but by exceptionally high African American crime commission rates and the imposition of prison sentences for conduct previously punished by jail or probation.”
Interesting to say that Latzer’s book has been ignored for the most part. Breitbart actually spoke to Latzer, and explains that the author told him that so many people just don’t want to deal with black crime. They seem to find it easier to just blame the issues on racism and bigotry. They would rather pretend that all criminal justice officials are racist and be done with it.
Latzer’s book reads:
[S]ome elites – public figures, experts and academics, even the news media –were reluctant to discuss the racial dimension of the crime problem. To acknowledge the high rate of black crime, they thought, would give aid and comfort to bigotry… some of the analysts were scared of being branded racists… Whatever the explanation, the result was the same – a denial of reality.
How can we keep perpetuating these kinds of stereotypes and expect anything to change? African Americans are bound to keep hating whites if they are continually taught that whites hate them or view them differently. It’s time for companies like Procter & Gamble to take a step back and realize the damage that they are doing to our country. This kind of ad cannot be accepted anymore. It’s time for things to change.
