Kirsters Baish| President Donald Trump has been traveling all over the country, supporting Republican candidates before the upcoming midterm elections. In the meantime, former President Barack Obama has been getting ready to go on the campaign trail in support of Democratic candidates.
Sources close to the former President have confirmed that he is working on his public image through multiple campaign stops around the country. He is hoping that he will be able to snag some key demographics in the Democrats’ favor, as reported by the U.K. Guardian.
It is expected that Obama will be starting his campaign tour in his own home state of Illinois where he will give a speech at the University of of Illinois. The school is planning to present Obama with an ethics in government award during his visit.
Western Journal writes:
The more active voter-turnout measure comes weeks after Obama unveiled his first list of endorsements, which included dozens of candidates vying for state and federal offices.
One Obama spokesperson indicated that the address will outline much of the mission he hopes to carry out in the weeks ahead of the midterms.
“He will make a pointed case in his speech on Friday, and on the trail this fall, that this moment in our country is too perilous for Democratic voters to sit out,” Katie Hill stated.
The Hill reported that it is expected that Obama will be working on his opposition to President Trump, although they did not state how they expect he will do so. Since Obama has left the White House, he has expressed his discontent with the way the Trump administration has been running things, without mentioning Trump by name.
“He will echo his call to reject the rising strain of authoritarian politics and policies,” Hill explained.
Hill explained that Obama will also be sending a message to Americans that warns against becoming a victim of “our own apathy by refusing to do the most fundamental thing demanded of us as citizens: vote.”
There have been many newcomers from the Democratic Party on the political scene lately. We’ve seen the Party embrace Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as the new face of their Party. We’ve seen Democratic politicians such as Senator Cory Booker and Senator Kamala Harris make themselves look like fools lately… and these are supposed to be potential 2020 presidential candidates?
“I think he still has the ability to inspire millions of Americans,” Democratic strategist Jim Manley stated about Barack Obama. “He’s an effective orator and admired by many.”
What’s worse? He then alluded that Obama was still the “leader” of the Democratic Party.
“We as a party have a problem,” Manley said. “We don’t have a leader of the party right now.”
He said of Obama that he “is about as close as it comes.”
