Kirsters Baish| Colin Kaepernick and his trend of kneeling for the National Anthem is the worst thing to ever happen to the NFL. Period. The way the league and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell have handled the situation is truly sickening. Rather than standing up to players and telling them that they must honor the flag, the NFL decided to let the players run the game. Thus, they have continued to disrespect our flag and all it stands for. Now, the NFL is paying the ultimate price for their decision.
It’s become evident that the NFL is not going to back down on their stance. They are not going to insist that players honor the flag. But, Americans seem to have lost interest in football since the anthem protests began, and the NFL is seeing the repercussions in their ratings.
The ratings for Week Two’s Monday Night Football game between the Chicago Bears and the Seattle Seahawks, crashed to the lowest numbers ever recorded for a Week Two Monday night game.
No matter how you look at it, this isn’t good news.
While no one agrees with police brutality, we cannot make a blanket statement about all law enforcement. Isn’t that the same thing as making blanket statements about a race, or a sex, or a religious group, etc.?
While the NFL and liberal America doesn’t seem to understand that actions like allowing players to kneel during the National Anthem will cause a drop in ratings and a decrease in revenue, Mike Huckabee and President Trump get it.
Huckabee tweeted, “TV ratings for this year’s Eagles-Falcons NFL season opener plunged to the lowest level since 2009. Cheer up, NFL: You still have all those residuals from the sale of team gear made by Nike. Oh, wait…”
President Trump wrote, “Wow, NFL first game ratings are way down over an already really bad last year comparison. Viewership declined 13%, the lowest in over a decade. If the players stood proudly for our Flag and Anthem, and it is all shown on broadcast, maybe ratings could come back? Otherwise worse!”
When is the NFL going to understand that they’re killing themselves? Alienating the consumer is the worst possible thing you can do. Chicksonright.com explains that “The NBA prevents players from kneeling. They are still popular and the liberal left still loves the NBA. It’s not like the NFL had to be soft in order for liberals to like them. They made this move because they didn’t care enough to take a firm stance on the national anthem and it’s not going to be good for them long term.”
Could the NFL be on its’ way out?
