Kirsters Baish| An Oregon Congressional candidate by the name of Mark Roberts sent out a nasty tweet this past Monday about First Lady Melania Trump. Roberts compared Mrs. Trump to a prostitute, but instead of taking the tweet down after criticism started rolling his way, Roberts enforced the attack. The office of the First Lady has responded to the attack.
Head of the Conservative Turning Point, Charlie Kirk, sent out a tweet about how the First Lady saved tons of money by significantly reducing the number of staffers on her crew, as compared to the previous First Lady, Michelle Obama.
Roberts responded to Kirk’s tweet by asking if he knew that Melania “works by the hour. He then attached the hashtags “#thinkdirty” and “#hoebag.”
For anyone who doesn’t know, “work by the hour” is a code for saying someone is a prostitute.
The Daily Caller News Foundation questioned Roberts about his comment, and he responded by saying, “I think the answers to your questions are self explanatory. Have a god [sic] day and keep the donations coming.”
The Congressional candidate received even more backlash, but decided to dish out another insult instead of sucking it up and apologizing.
From Biz Pac Review:
When a social media user reminded Roberts the Trumps successfully sued the Daily Mail for reporting that Melania once worked as an escort, he turned his hate-filled venom on President Trump.
“I invite that hosebag to sue me,” tweeted Roberts, who would thrive on the added notoriety.
President Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., questioned why Twitter didn’t take action against Roberts’ comments. The tweets are still up, as the social media platform has not dubbed them as a violation of their terms of service.
Trump Jr. wrote on Twitter, “Imagine if a conservative tweeted this. Imagine if anyone said this horrific statement about Michelle Obama. Their life would ruined and account deactivated. Twitter is becoming a platform for hate against conservatives @jack.”
Melania Trump’s Office gave their take on the matter, calling the attack “disturbing and despicable.”
“This is just more hypocritical intolerance from those who oppose her husband’s administration. To say such ugly words about a mother, wife and our First Lady is not just a pathetic attempt at getting himself in the news, it is disturbing and despicable,” the first lady’s spokesperson Stephanie Grisham said in a statement to CNN.
Fox News reports that California Republican and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy brought the tweets to the attention of Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter. He pushed Dorsey to ban Roberts from the social media platform all together.
He wrote, “@jack this attack on @FLOTUS is disgraceful. Comments like these have no business on any platform. This account should be banned ASAP.”

Roberts labels himself as an “independent conservative.” He is going up against current incumbent Republican Representative Greg Walden, and Democrat Jamie McLeod-Skinner in the 2nd congressional district of Oregon.
Roberts’ campaign webpage claimed that he did not challenge Walden for the Republican primary since he would “likely lose.” The site also states that he is “not a big fan of the exclusiveness and intolerance that’s exhibited by the current Republican Party.”
