Kirsters Baish| Things are looking rough for the Democratic Party, and they are going to have to start choosing sides. Former FBI Director James Comey has been soaking in the publicity after releasing his new memoir, and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch has issued a statement this past weekend which totally goes against Comey’s version of certain events that took place near the 2016 presidential election.
Comey’s book is brand new, but he’s already being named as a liar by someone who had a lot of power throughout Barack Obama’s presidency.
Published excerpts of the book, “A Higher Loyalty,” started an all out war with former Attorney General Loretta Lynch. In the book, Comey accuses Lynch of attempting to get him to turn around the FBI’s Clinton email probe by calling it a “matter” rather than an “investigation.” The implications of the two words are very different, and it doesn’t take a genius to realize why Lynch pressured Comey to change the wording. By calling the investigation a “matter” it minimizes the severity of the entire thing.
Comey also stated in his book that he felt that the change in wording was a direct order from Clinton herself.
Comey wrote, “The attorney general seemed to be directing me to align with the Clinton campaign strategy. Her ‘just do it’ response to my question indicated that she had no legal or procedural justification for her request, at least not one grounded in our practices or traditions. Otherwise, I assume, she would have said so.”
During part of Comey’s interview with ABC host George Stephanopoulos, Comey spoke more about the matter.
He explained of Lynch’s orders, “To be honest, it gave me a bad feeling. And maybe I should have pushed harder in the moment.”
Lynch released her own statement on Sunday, which was clearly a sad attempt at striking back against Comey’s statements. Lynch started out by defending her decision to have Comey change the wording from “investigation” to “matter,” by claiming that the Justice Department’s longtime practice of declining either confirm or deny whether a particular individual is under investigation or not.
Keep in mind that the former Attorney General is a lawyer, so it’s likely that she can come up with an explanation for just about anything, no matter how shady. The ending part of the statement is the kicker. Basically, Lynch flat-out called Comey a liar.
“I have known James Comey almost 30 years. Throughout his time as director we spoke regularly about some of the most sensitive issues in law enforcement and national security,” Lynch claimed. “If he had any concerns regarding the email investigation, classified or not, he had ample opportunities to raise them with me both privately and in meetings. He never did.”
Conservative Tribune reported:
It was a remarkable political betrayal, considering the two not only worked together to elect Clinton president, but knew each other for decades before that.
So it comes to this: Comey wrote that Lynch’s request was so unusual that it made him uncomfortable, that he questioned it, and was told to “just do it.”
Lynch, however, says the terminology was standard procedure and — more importantly — Comey never questioned it at all.
One of the two is not telling the truth. It could certainly be Lynch who is lying since she is the one whose reputation would be totally ruined and her career would be ruined by her infamous tarmac meeting with Bill Clinton.
However, Comey has proven in the past that is less than honest. Back in July when he tried to exonerate Clinton on national television, we all knew that the man was less than honest. The FBI is clearly against President Trump and the Republican Party. This was just a sad attempt at fixing a presidential election.
It’s not going to be long before the left is going to have to take sides.
