Kirsters Baish| In some breaking news, members of the House made a sweeping criminal referral against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former FBI Director James Comey, and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch to the Department of Justice Attorney General Jeff Sessions today.
Sara A. Carter wrote, “The lawmakers also made a criminal referral on former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and threats made by her DOJ against the FBI informant, who provided the bureau with information on the Russian nuclear industry and the approval in 2010 to sell roughly 20 percent of American uranium mining assets to Russia.” All three former senior-level Obama administration government officials will finally be facing the consequences for their actions.
The letter was sent to Sessions and FBI Director Christopher Wray by a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Republican Representative Ron DeSantis, as well as nine of his colleagues. The Obama-era politicians are being held accountable for their involvement in the investigations into President Trump as well as alleged violations of federal laws. It wasn’t a huge shocker that FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok and his mistress and colleague, FBI lawyer Lisa Page, were included in the referral as well.
A letter that was obtained by reporter Sara A. Carter read, “We write to refer the following individuals for investigation of potential violation(s) of federal statutes. In doing so, we are especially mindful of the dissimilar degrees of zealousness that has marked the investigations into Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the presidential campaign of Donald Trump, respectively. Because we believe that those in positions of high authority should be treated the same as every other American, we want to be sure that the potential violations of law outlined below are vetted appropriately.”
James Comey is in trouble with lawmakers because they claim that he “engaged in questionable conduct vis-à-vis President Donald Trump.” A New York Times article that was published in May of 2017 referred to the memos that were leaked by James Comey. Comey attempted to create a “paper trail” for “documenting that he perceived as the president’s improper efforts to influence a continuing investigation.” The article also claimed that Comey had made similar memos up about every single call and meeting that he had with Donald Trump, which also included some classified memos. Lawmakers are concerned that Comey leaked classified information. Comey is up for potential violations of 18 USC 641, 18 USC 793, and 18 USC 1924(a), according to the letter.
It is public knowledge at this point that a lawyer representing the Clinton campaign as well as the DNC paid Fusion GPS to do some heavy duty research, which ultimately resulted in the fabricated dossier. Hillary Clinton is being referred to the Department of Justice for potential violations of 52 USC 30121 and 52 USC 30101 for having disguised payments to the firm on mandatory disclosures to the Federal Election Commission.
The former Attorney General was referred after concerned surfaced having to do with her choice to threaten former FBI informant Douglas Campbell with reprisal. Campbell came forward initially in 2016 with information about the sale of the Canadian firm Uranium One. Uranium One control roughly 20 percent of our country’s uranium mining interests. A lawsuit was initially filed by the FBI informant in federal court in the state of Maryland in 2016. The suit was filed against the Russian companies that he had been employed with and had been leaking information about to the FBI. When he sent a Freedom of Information Act request to the Department of Justice, the DOJ under the Attorney General at the time, Loretta Lynch, demanded a withdrawal of the suit. Campbell’s prior attorney stated that the DOJ made threats against Campbell, saying that they would destroy his reputation and prosecute him for having violated a non-disclosure agreement. Loretta Lynch is being faced with the potential violation(s) of 18 USC 1505 and 1515b.
Keep in mind that a criminal referral does not confirm guilt of a party, however it is more of proof that there is in fact enough evidence to support the claim of each charge and launch an investigation into each Obama-era official, as well as any other charges or names that come up during said investigations.
