Kirsters Baish| There is good news for Fox News’ Laura Ingraham’s fans. She is coming back tonight and with great news! Ingraham has officially fought off the boycott brought on by Parkland survivor turned anti-gun activist David Hogg and his liberal friends.
The Washington Times reported that during Ingraham’s week-long vacation, she was able to duck out of the public’s eye. While the Fox News host was away, the number of corporations announcing that they would be cutting ties with “The Ingraham Angle” (currently at 19 companies) slowed to a halt. Laura’a bosses at Fox News released a statement explaining that they would be supporting the host, but support also came from an unexpected place. Liberal talk show host Bill Maher announced his support for Ingraham on Friday night.
Ingraham publicly apologized to David Hogg via Twitter after saying that the teenager “whined” about being rejected from multiple colleges in the state of California. Hogg didn’t accept the apology and instead went after Ingraham’s advertisers even harder with help from the George Soros backed group, Media Matters.
Media Matters has been doing their best to take down Fox News network as a whole for years now. They have attempted to get Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity off the air in the past. They have never been shy about their goal of taking down Fox.
Ingraham did lose nineteen advertisers, but her vacation also did some good.
The Washington Times reported:
Vacations under fire can be an ominous sign. Another Fox prime-time host, Bill O’Reilly, went on vacation when advertisers abandoned him following reports about sexual misconduct complaints against him; he never returned. An advertiser boycott helped cost O’Reilly his job at near-lightning speed. Former Fox personality Glenn Beck fell victim to an advertiser abandonment that was much more gradual.
However, attempts to launch boycotts against Sean Hannity have largely failed, and he remains Fox’s top-rated personality.
Fox News President Jack Abernathy released a very strong statement in support of Laura, and he was clear that the attempts to shut down Fox will not work. He explained, “we cannot and will not allow voices to be censored by agenda-driven intimidation efforts.” He also promised that Laura Ingraham would be back.
HBO’s Bill Maher did criticize Ingraham, however, he also stated that Hogg and his activist friends should “expect criticism” if they decide to battle in the public arena. He also said that they should not be “bullying” advertisers.
It’s great to see Fox standing up for Ingraham!
