Kirsters Baish| Anti-Second Amendment student activists from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School took to the streets this past weekend in order to demand harsher gun control in America. Now, pro-Second Amendment activist and Parkland shooting survivor Kyle Kashuv has decided to have his say in things.
Kashuv has been making a name for himself by protesting the protesters. He is unwilling to give up his rights as an American and will not be putting anymore power into the hands of authority without a fight. Kashuv made an appearance on Fox News on Monday in order to talk about the ridiculousness of this past Saturday’s marches. He also condemned the law enforcement officers that he claims failed everyone inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14 when 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz began to open fire on students and faculty. He dubbed the Broward County Sheriff’s office “the cowards of Broward.”
During his time on Fox, Kashuv explained that the “March for Our Lives” protests took the blame away from the Broward County Sheriff’s office and Federal officials, where some of it truly belonged.
He explained on the air, “I didn’t see a single sign that said ‘screw the Broward Sheriff’s Office.’ I did not see a single sign. We need to represent and make sure that the government is held accountable.”
He continued, “When they fail we have to make sure that they are held accountable.”
Conservative Tribune reported:
Kashuv noted that targets of the audience’s ire tended to entities like Marco Rubio, legal gun owners or the National Rifle Association, as opposed to the shooter and authorities who didn’t stop him.
“It pains me to see that all of the hatred is deflected towards Marco Rubio and not the true authoritative figures such as the FBI and the Sheriff’s Office and the cowards of Broward who did not do their job,” he said.
“They have to be the ones getting the blame and they need to be the ones blasted across every single media outlet as those who need to be getting all of the blame for this.”
There is plenty of blame to go around here. Among the “cowards of Broward,” not one single person is responsible for the delay in response time. After reports of the shooting began coming in, it was reported that deputies arrived on the scene but hesitated to enter the school and take down Cruz. School Resource Officer Scot Peterson was on the scene, but failed to enter the school. He later resigned from his position. Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel made matters worse with his cavalier attitude.
It came out later that Broward deputies paid more than thirty visits to Cruz to deal with either Cruz or his brother. It seems that authorities were aware that he was a mental health risk. Then, information came out that the FBI had received tips about the shooter, but they were never acted on. A YouTube comment that Cruz had posted explained that he was “going to be a professional school shooter.”
How can the left keep blaming law-abiding Americans and the NRA as a whole? Why should the actions of a few take away the rights of all? It’s time to start seeing this for what it was. Nikolas Cruz was a mentally disturbed individual who should have never been able to get his hands on a gun, but we cannot blame the gun.
