Kirsters Baish| On Thursday, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to promise Americans that there would indeed be an investigation into liberal social media platform Twitter’s alleged “shadowban” on Republicans.
For over a year now, Breitbart News has been reporting on the social media platform’s discriminatory habit of hiding both conservatives’ tweets and accounts all together. It was just this past Monday that Breitbart News’ Allum Bokhari wrote that Twitter had actually attempted to shadowban his own account as well as other reporters from Breitbart. Prominent Republicans were also targeted in the shadowban.
VICE News spoke to a spokesman for Twitter on Wednesday who stated that the social media company’s block was due to “account *behavior* not the content of Tweets.”
VICE stated that when one uses the auto-populated search box on their Twitter account, Donald Trump Jr.’s spokesman Andy Surabian, Republican Party Chair Ronna McDaniel, and numerous other Republicans don’t show up.
The President wrote on his Twitter account, “Twitter ‘SHADOW BANNING’ prominent Republicans. Not good. We will look into this discriminatory and illegal practice at once! Many complaints.”

Fox News reported on the shadowban earlier this week:
Twitter is taking heat for “shadow banning” certain prominent Republicans, restricting their visibility in search results.
The social media giant came under fire after Republican Party chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, several conservative Republican congressmen, including Rep. Devin Nunes and Andrew Surabian, the spokesman for Donald Trump Jr., failed to appear in Twitter’s auto-populated drop-down search results. The news was first reported by Vice News.
Ronna McDaniel wrote on Twitter, “The notion that social media companies would suppress certain political points of view should concern every American. Twitter owes the public answers to what’s really going on.”

After people began taking note of her complaint, McDaniel’s name popped back up in the search box… how interesting.
Donald Trump Jr. also sent out an angry tweet on the matter, specifically targeting Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey.
Trump Jr. wrote, “So now @twitter is censoring @GOPChairwoman?
Enough is enough with this crap. @Jack it’s time for you to #StopTheBias against conservatives and Trump supporters and fix this once and for all.”

Vice also reported that when users attempted to search for Republican Representative Mark Meadows, Republican Representative Jim Jordan and Republican Representative Matt Gaetz, they were unable to be found. Vice went on to explain that no top Democrats had been “shadowbanned.”

Twitter spoke to Fox News, claiming that the issue was due to an “algorithmic glitch”:
“To be clear, our behavioral ranking doesn’t make judgements based on political views or the substance of tweets,” tweeted Twitter product lead Kayvon Beykpour. “Some accounts weren’t being auto-suggested even when people were searching for their specific name. Our usage of the behavior signals within search was causing this to happen & making search results seem inaccurate. We’re making a change today that will improve this.”
If one thing is certain here, it’s that President Trump isn’t going to let this one slide. There is all together too much bias against Conservatives and Trump supporters in our media, which includes social media. Looks like Dorsey just shot himself in the foot.
