There is a huge problem in the mainstream media these days, and that’s the double standard among liberals, such as ABC host Jimmy Kimmel, and those who liberals classify as “others,” i.e. Conservatives or Independents, such as (former) NBC host Megyn Kelly. Yes, that’s “former” NBC host as of this week. Kelly’s $69 million contract was said to be up in the air earlier today, and breaking reports have confirmed that Kelly will not be returning to the “Megyn Kelly Today” show.
It all started when Kelly made a comment regarding “blackface” and Halloween on the air, but NBC executives saw the comment as a whole lot more.
What’s strange about the whole thing is the way the same liberal media who has been scrutinizing Kelly over her comment, has been silently regarding ABC host Jimmy Kimmel’s appearance WEARING blackface, which can be seen in old video footage that has recently resurfaced on the internet.
“You truly do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface at Halloween or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween,” Kelly stated on her (former) show, “Megyn Kelly Today.”
The next part was what killed her.
“That was OK when I was a kid, as long as you were dressing like a character,” she went on.
Conservative Tribune reports, “Kelly was quickly attacked from many sides for the allegedly insensitive statement — and the chairman of NBC News even declared that the statement was grounds for the onetime Fox News host to be fired from the show.”
“There is no other way to put this, but I condemn those remarks,” chairman Andy Lack reportedly said, according to The New York Times. “There is no place on our air or in this workplace for them.”
“On Wednesday’s ‘Today’ show, news anchor Craig Melvin called her comments ‘racist and ignorant,’ and the generally genial Al Roker said that Kelly ‘owes a bigger apology to folks of color around the country,’” Western Journal reported.
Conservative Tribune writes:
It’s worth pointing out that Kelly’s actual quote really only mentioned that using black makeup — commonly called blackface — was more common when she was younger, which is almost certainly true.
Still, the host was forced to grovel for her job and quickly issued an apology for daring to make a personal observation.
“I realize now that such behavior is indeed wrong, and I am sorry,” Kelly stated in an email. “The history of blackface in our culture is abhorrent; the wounds too deep.”
“I learned given the history of blackface being used in awful ways by racists in this country, it is not OK for that to be part of any costume, Halloween or otherwise,” she also tearfully said during a TV appearance.
So, Kelly gets fired for her comment, but are we really going to just ignore the fact that Jimmy Kimmel literally wore blackface on “The Man Show,” and still has a job at ABC?
Take a look for yourself:
Kimmel’s accent and blackface attempt were his way of portraying basketball player Karl Malone.
Hmm, so why did Megyn Kelly get fired from NBC for mentioning blackface, but Jimmy Kimmel still has his own show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on ABC? Most likely due to their political affiliations, sadly.
