Kirsters Baish| There has been a lot of backlash towards Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel following the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Sheriff Israel has not taken responsibility for the inaction of his deputies during the shooting.
Outspoken conservative actor James Woods used Israel’s own words to turn them against him saying, “If you watch this and DON’T arm yourself, you’re an idiot. #2A #NRA”

The following are some reactions:
Israel really needs to think about resigning.
National Review reported:
It is impossible to imagine circumstances under which Broward County sheriff Scott Israel could attempt to perform his duties with the confidence of the public. He should resign immediately, and if, as he promises, he refuses to go quietly, then he should be shown the door by the people he professes to serve.
The numbers tell the story: 23 sheriff’s calls involving the Parkland shooter; 18 sheriff’s calls involving the shooter’s behavior directly (some of the others were principally about his brother); four sheriff’s deputies, armed and trained, cowering outside the high school while the killer within carried out his massacre; 17 dead.
Even though there was an armed “resource officer” stationed at the school as well as an on site deputy and three other sheriff’s deputies outside the high school when the shooting started, no one acted to stop the shooting. That is, until Coral Springs police arrived on the scene and entered the school. At this time, Nikolas Cruz escaped the school and walked off the property along with the rest of the students. Cruz actually made his way to a fast food restaurant and ordered a drink and had time to wander around before one Coral Springs officer spotted him. He was then taken into custody.
The Wrap reported on Woods saying:
The actor and noted conservative blasted Enterprise Rent-a-Car on Friday after the company decided to end its discount program for National Rifle Association members amid an increasingly vocal debate about gun control in America.
“Thank you for contacting us! All three of our brands have ended the discount for NRA members,” Enterprise wrote, in response to an inquiry. “This change will be effective March 26. Thank you again for reaching out. Kind regards, Michael.”
“And thank YOU for disrespecting all your law-abiding now former clients, who work arduously to promote firearm safety,” Woods wrote. “I used to use @Enterprise. I now welcome all fellow @NRA members to rethink their car rental arrangements.”
LifeZette reported that Woods was blacklisted in Hollywood because of his conservative stance. Woods’s comments were made after an interview was conducted with actor Brendan Fraser with GQ. Fraser felt that his professional opportunities became few and far between after “he was allegedly groped by former Hollywood Foreign Press Association (it is behind the Golden Globes) president Philip Berk in 2003.”
Woods accused Berk of being a part of Fraser’s dying career. Woods has always been outspoken, but Americans are finally starting to listen to what he has to say.
