Kirsters Baish| A publicist for actor Matt Damon has come forward to deny rumors that the actor has plans of moving to Australia. His publicist stated, “Matt has visited Australia several times recently, but he has not bought a house there nor is he moving there.”
It has been circulating that movie star Matt Damon is getting ready to move his whole family to Australia. The alleged reason? Damon is in an ongoing feud with President Trump. Damon has reportedly told friends and family that he’s ready to leave the country because of Trump’s policies.
The New York Post reported that the actor recently bought a new house in New South Wales right near his “Thor” co-star Chris Hemsworth. He has stated that he hopes to raise his children in what he calls a “safe place.”
The Post reported, “A source exclusively tells Page Six: ‘Matt’s telling friends and colleagues in Hollywood that he’s moving the family to Australia’ because the activist actor disagrees with Trump’s policies. The president’s frequently butted heads with liberal Hollywood A-listers including Meryl Streep.”
“Matt’s saying the move will not impact his work — as he will travel to wherever his projects are shooting. He’s also telling friends he wants to have a safe place to raise his kids,” the insider continued.
Damon was the topic of conversation last year when he made some “insensitive comments” having to do with the “#MeToo” campaign which took over Hollywood and all forms of social media. Damon suggested that there was a “spectrum of behavior” when it comes to sexual assault.
In the video below, Damon can be seen bashing Trump during a commencement speech.
Only time will tell if Damon really leaves the United States, but I think we’ll be okay with one less liberal actor.
