Remember The GOP Activist Who Was Found Dead After Investigating Hillary Clinton’s Emails? … Here’s A New Development

Kirsters Baish| The Gateway Pundit has reported a breaking update on the death of Peter Smith, a Republican activist who was found dead in his hotel room in Rochester, Minnesota in May of 2017. Smith was found by hotel staff with a black plastic bag tied around his head. His death came as he was investigating Hillary Clinton’s infamous lost emails.

In a shocking update, Special Counsel Robert Mueller and Congressional investigators have actually conducted interviews with acquaintances of Smith multiple times. The Gateway Pundit reports of sources who claim there is more to the story.

The Wall Street Journal reported:

Peter W. Smith, a Republican political activist and financier from Chicago who mounted an effort to obtain former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails from Russian hackers, died on May 14 after asphyxiating himself in a hotel room in Rochester, Minn., according to local authorities. He was 81 years old.

Mr. Smith’s body was found by a hotel clerk in the Aspen Suites hotel, located across the street from the Mayo Clinic, according to a Rochester Police Department report. An associate of Mr. Smith said that he had recently visited the clinic. A representative for the facility wouldn’t confirm if Mr. Smith was a patient.

Smith died roughly 10 days after he sat down for an interview with the Wall Street Journal. During the interview, Smith spoke about his having tried to obtain thousands of emails that were stolen from Hillary Clinton’s private email server. There was an implication during the interview that Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, who was serving as the Senior National Security Adviser to then-presidential candidate Donald Trump at the time, knew about his work.

The Journal explained that the official police report explained that Smith was found by a hotel worker with a plastic garbage bag tied around his head with rubber bands. The report stated that Smith “left documentation on why he committed suicide, medical records, his written obituary, and life insurance.”

At the time, Fox News reported that Smith stated that he had tried to get his hands on Clinton’s emails from Russian hackers. The “Republican Party operative” was 81-years-old when he allegedly committed suicide, as his death record states. The GOP donor from Chicago died on May 14, 2017.

Fox reported:

Smith said he had created a team to find the emails that might have been stolen by hackers during Clinton’s tenure as U.S. Secretary of State, although the Journal reported Smith was focused on obtaining the 30,000 emails Clinton claimed she deleted because they were personal.

In Smith’s hotel room, he left a “statement police called a suicide note in which he said he was in ill health and a life insurance policy was expiring,” the Tribune reported.

His death, which a police chief called “unusual,” had been recorded as “asphyxiation due to displacement of oxygen in a confined space with helium.” Smith was found with a bag over his head and a helium source attached.

Before he died, Smith released two blog posts. One directly challenged the Intelligence community and their claims that Russia had interfered in the 2016 United States presidential election. The other message “predicted” that “the Russian interference story will die of its own weight.”
