Democrats Reject Bill to Keep Families Together at Border … Schumer’s Excuse Proves Exactly What We Suspected: He Wants to “Keep Focus on Trump”

Kirsters Baish| On Tuesday, the Democrats rejected a bill which proposed to keep immigrant families together at the border. Charles Schumer, Senate Democratic Leader from New York, insisted that he would not accept the proposal that had been backed by Republican lawmakers in order to try and keep migrant families from being separated.

It was reported by Homeland Security officials that there have been 148 cases in which someone pretended to be a family member of a migrant child at the border between October and April.

The Hill reports:

Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) on Tuesday dismissed a legislative proposal backed by Republican leaders to keep immigrant families together at the border, arguing that President Trump could fix the problem more easily with a flick of his pen.

“There are so many obstacles to legislation and when the president can do it with his own pen, it makes no sense,” Schumer told reporters. “Legislation is not the way to go here when it’s so easy for the president to sign it.”

Schumer was questioned if the Democrats would not be supporting the Senate Majority Leader-backed bill, which would keep immigrant families from being separated on their way to America. He stated that they wanted to “keep the focus on Trump.”

Schumer answered, “Again, the president can change it with his pen. Unacceptable additions have bogged down every piece of legislation we’ve done.”

Thanks to Chuck Schumer and his petty attitude, children will continue to be separated from their families at the border, and the President can do nothing about it unless he goes back on his “zero tolerance” policy in enforcing the laws of this country.

The left are hoping to keep Trump under pressure rather than allowing Congress to take responsibility for the “humanitarian crisis” that the left are proclaiming it to be.

There was instant speculation raised by Schumer’s attitude regarding how much longer the Dems would stick with the decision if Trump won’t back down.

“Let’s hope we never get to that. Let’s hope the president does the right thing and solves the problem, which he can do. That’s the simple, easiest and most likely way this will happen,” Schumer stated.

The Hill writes:

Trump claims the burden is on Congress to keep immigrant children from being separated from their parents after 20 days if they are detained by law enforcement.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen on Monday told reporters “Congress alone can fix it.”

McConnell on Tuesday sided with the administration and called for legislation.

“I support, and all of the senators of the Republican conference support, a plan that keeps families together,” McConnell told reporters.

“We need to fix the problem and it requires a legislative solution,” he added.

The Democrats are going to continue to be petty and do nothing to help these immigrant children that they claim to care so much about. They are simply refusing to come to an agreement, all because of their hatred for President Trump.
