Kirsters Baish| The Democratic Party has been going through some changes lately. To put it bluntly, the Party is falling apart. Democrats are now embracing many aspects of socialism, and they don’t seem too shy about it. In fact, New York Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has become somewhat of the new poster child of the Democratic Party in recent months. The 28-year-old began making headlines when she beat out longtime Representative of the states’ 14th district Joe Crowley during a primary earlier this year.
This week, Ocasio-Cortez made an appearance on the Comedy Central show, “The Daily Show,” with host Trevor Noah. While on the air, the New York politician spoke about current political issues. Unfortunately, she didn’t stick to the facts and made three very misleading statements in less than a minute when discussing minimum wage in Seattle, Washington, American population numbers, and wages earned by our country’s citizens.
Take a look at the clip below:
Ocasio-Cortez's claim that a $15 minimum wage did not hurt economic growth in Seattle is false: https://t.co/NVGXV8ZsNM

First of all, the Democratic Socialist claimed that $15 minimum wage (which is what Seattle currently has set for their minimum wage) was an example of this high of a minimum wage not hurting the United States’ economy… the thing is, she is wrong. Studies have actually proven the $15 minimum wage in Seattle to have had a significant negative impact on the city’s economy.
Then, she claimed “One of the biggest problems that we have is 200 million Americans make less than $20,000 a year. That’s 40 percent of this country.”
It was explained by MRCTV that “if 200 million Americans equates to 40 percent of the country, that’d mean there are a whopping 500 million Americans in total. Except that there aren’t – there are about 328 million, meaning that 200 million would make up about 61 percent of the total national population, not 40.”
So, Ocasio-Cortez claimed that 200 million Americans make less than $20,000 annually. She is off on her numbers by tens of millions of people, which was confirmed by U.S. Census Bureau statistics, which show that roughly 28 million American households survive on annual incomes of $25,000 or less. The average median household income in America is a little over $57,000.
The worst part of the interview was when the Democratic Socialist couldn’t even think of a rational explanation as to how she would be able to fund her dreams of monumental government programs. This woman is a joke of a politician. How can you go on television and sit there and spew lies? It’s time to start delivering the facts.

Jonathan Swan, a reporter for Axios, called attention to that fact that just about everything Ocasio-Cortez said about the United States military was a lie. He stated, “Literally everything Ocasio-Cortez says about the military is false. Mattis not only asked for more money; he lobbied for it. And she confuses the total budget with the amount increased.”
