Kirsters Baish| The Democratic Party is falling apart. In recent weeks, we have seen countless Democrats take part in a movement called the #WalkAway campaign, in which former Democrats share their personal stories of why they chose to leave the Democratic Party. It seems that many Democrats are unhappy about the call for harassment of the Trump administration and Trump supporters. They are so unhappy with the current situation that even longterm Dems are ready to call it quits.
If you aren’t familiar with the #WalkAway movement, take a look at our piece on the campaign.
We have now witnessed a New York Democratic lawmaker speak out against his own party and the negativity being perpetuated by it. He hasn’t just rejected his once beloved party, but now he’s announced that he is supporting the GOP until “sanity and honesty” are brought back to the Democratic Party.
Fox News Insider reports that Brooklyn Democratic State Assemblyman Dov Hikind bashed Chuck Schumer’s constant attacks on the Trump administration.
Hikind is not running for re-election. He wrote on his Facebook page that Schumer “omitted vital information” regarding our country’s economy, record low unemployment rates, and possible peace talks with dictator-run North Korea.
Hikind wrote on Facebook, “Senator Schumer, in your letter you promised to fight for Democratic values and go on at great length to fully villainize the current administration. You forgot to tell us about the economy. As good as it’s been, economists expect even more growth through the end of the year.”
Hikind is livid with Schumer for being dishonest about the facts and make the Democratic Party look bad. The assemblyman explained that the reason that he is leaving is because the party is “betraying the ideals that our party once stood for… American values.”
He explained, “As a fellow Democrat, I ask you to work to restore sanity and honesty to our party. Until then, I’m afraid the Republicans have my support.”
Hikind has not been happy at all with the embrace of the new young socialist who defeated longtime Rep. Joe Crowley in a New York primary race. His Facebook response was “G-d help us!”
DNC Chair Tom Perez had called socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez “the future” of the Democratic party.
Hikind is a smart guy. He sees that this is not a good political move by the Democrats. But he also is one who honestly believes this approach is fundamentally wrong.
It’s incredible to watch Hikind stand up to the Democratic Party, especially as a New York Democrat himself. This is exactly the kind of wake-up call that the leftists of the nation need to realize that they are killing their own party.
