Elder Patriot – With just two days to go before the Democratic primary for state attorney general in Minnesota, U.S. Representative Keith Ellison is facing allegations of domestic abuse and causing mental anguish to his one-time girlfriend Karen Monahan.
The allegations came to light after Monahan’s son Austin made this post to his Facebook page.
My name is Austin Monahan and I am writing this letter on behalf of me and my brother.
My brother and I watched our mom come out of pure hell after getting out of her relationship with Keith Ellison. For several months we knew something wasn’t right and couldn’t figure it out. When we asked our mom if everything was ok, she told us she was dealing with some stress and would be ok.
In the middle of 2017, I was using my moms computer trying to download something and I clicked on a file, I found over 100 text and twitters messages and video almost 2 min long that showed Keith Ellison dragging my mama off the bed by her feet, screaming and calling her a “fucking bitch” and telling her to get the fuck out of his house.
The messages I found, were mixed with him consistently telling my mom he wanted her back, he missed her, he knew he fucked up and we wished he could do things different, he would victim shaming, bully her, and threaten her if she went public. I text him and told him I know what you did to my mama and a few other things.
Austin’s post continues for an additional 8 paragraphs.
Within the past hour Karen Monahan confirmed her son’s version of the events via Twitter:
What my son said is true. Every statement he made was true.@keithellison, you know you did that to me. I have given every opportunity to get help and heal. Even now, u r willing to say my son is lying and have me continue to leak more text and info just so others will believe him

Ellison, who is running to be Minnesota’s top law enforcement official, made reference to his hatred for Donald Trump when he announced his candidacy for attorney general:
“No one — not even a president — is above the law.”
My how the worm turns.
Ellison had become somewhat of a liberal rock star but grew disenchanted after serving as co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and and then losing his bid to become the DNC chairmanship to Tom Perez.
Now this. At least the voters of Minnesota can’t say they weren’t warned. Scott Will, Executive Director of the Republican Attorneys General Association warned Minnesotans about Ellison when he announced his candidacy:
“Keith Ellison will not defend the rule of law, he will not protect you. Ellison the Extremist is completely unfit to serve as attorney general of Minnesota.”
For those of you who think this may be a politically motivated hit, Monahan has been hinting at the abuse she suffered at the hands of Ellison for some time.

As this story gains legs, Ellison will have to scramble to win the Democratic primary. Unless, of course, hypocritical Dems conveniently ignore these allegations because he is another progressive hero like Bill Clinton.
