Elder Patriot Thinks He Knows Who Is Really Behind Facebook’s Purge Of Citizen Journalists & Commentary Sites … China

Yesterday Facebook announced they were removing 559 Pages and 251 accounts that had consistently broken their rules against spam and coordinated inauthentic behavior.  The deleted pages and accounts all appear to be political in nature.

Other accounts by the mainstream legacy media – some may call these the state run media – came from the New York Times and the Washington Post and CNN.

Aside from shutting down millions of engagements being a bad business decision its timing just weeks before the midterm elections is at least suspicious.

Facebook’s explanation distilled down to this:

“And like the politically motivated activity we’ve seen, the ‘news’ stories or opinions these accounts and Pages share are often indistinguishable from legitimate political debate.”

Uh, that’s because they represent legitimate political debate.  The fact is political discourse is protected by the Constitution in all its forms.  

While the First Amendment only applies as a protection against government censorship, at the time the it was written the Framers could never have envisioned the internet and the ability of a single private media company growing large enough to shut out competition and to influence elections.

The American revolution was largely stoked by pamphleteers who dared challenge the established order with bold ideas about individual freedoms bestowed by Divine Providence.  The content contained in those writings became the topics of discussion in the taverns of that time.

Think about how that compares to today for a minute.  What if King George had sent forth angry mobs of masked individuals with bicycle locks and batons (Antifa) to break up those discussions?  What if the pamphleteers had been limited to printing only a dozen copies or had been shut down altogether?

That would be more reminiscent of Hitler’s Sturmabteilung (aka brownshirts) and Nazi resistance fighter Sophie Scholl who gave her life distributing anti-war leaflets, than anything expected in the United States.

Facebook has engaged in selected censorship against conservatives and ignored and or alibied for violent groups like Antifa and Black Lives Matter, ostensibly to make people “feel safe and trust the connections they make here.”  Seriously.

It’s highly unlikely the 63,000,000 Americans who voted to make Donald Trump their president feel any safer or more trusting this morning.  It’s hard to imagine Facebook didn’t realize this prior to making the decision to purge 810 pages and accounts..

So, what is Facebook up to?  Why would supposedly enlightened corporate executives essentially align with such obviously heavy-handed political censorship?

There’s virtually no question that the intent is to influence (meddle in?) the results of the midterm elections.  This would not be anything new for Facebook. As an example, they allowed Obama’s re-election campaign team to access the personal information of virtually every American.

The New York Times, ever with their thumb on the political scale, applauded both the Obama campaign and Facebook:

That Facebook has consistently allowed their politics to guide corporate policy shouldn’t be an issue for debate, though Facebook has consistently denied that this is the case.  

Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer is Sheryl Sandberg.  She had previously served as chief of staff to Bill Clinton’s Treasury Secretary, Lawrence Summers.  Failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who continues to be a leader of the Trump resistance had Sandberg on her short list to become Treasury Secretary.

To believe Sandberg doesn’t remain loyal to Hillary and is part of the Trump resistance requires a level of trust beyond naiveté.  

In fact, Facebook has literally dozens of former Obama administration officials in key senior management positions.

We also know that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg traveled to Lima, Peru in November 2016 shortly after Donald Trump’s election where he met with Obama at Obama’s request.  

Draw your own conclusions as to what they might’ve discussed but consider the evidence compiled by investigative journalist Paul Sperry that points to Obama leading a Trump resistance movement.

So there’s plenty of reason to suspect that political bias underpins Facebook’s decision yesterday but there’s also the immeasurable economic incentive that we posited was driving Facebook’s censorship in November of 2016.

At the time the New York Times had reported:

“Zuckerberg has cultivated relationships with China’s leaders, including President Xi Jinping. He has paid multiple visits to the country to meet its top Internet executives. He has made an effort to learn Mandarin.

“Inside Facebook, the work to enter China runs far deeper.”

“The social network has quietly developed software to suppress posts from appearing in people’s news feeds in specific geographic areas, according to three current and former Facebook employees, who asked for anonymity because the tool is confidential. The feature was created to help Facebook get into China, a market where the social network has been blocked, these people said. Mr. Zuckerberg has supported and defended the effort, the people added.”

So China has something Facebook wants – access to 1.2 Billion potential Chinese users and Facebook may control something that China wants – the defeat of Donald Trump whose America First trade policies threatens China’s annual $500 Billion dollar rape of American assets.

It appears we have embarked upon a slippery slope where a single company, that has endeavored to destroy all competition, is now in position to influence, if not dictate, electoral outcomes for ideological or financial reasons – or both.
